Mark Taylor

Rooted in the North Shields Fish Quay, Mark Taylor has been creating artworks for over 20 years taking inspiration from the North East coastline and industrial heritage. As an artist, sailor, and lifeboatman, Mark has a lifelong love of the sea which translates into pieces that capture the transient qualities of the light on water and the evolution of coastal life. Through work in oils and acrylic, Mark depicts the constant fluctuations and rhythms of life by the sea.

Royal Society of Marine Artists Annual Exhibition 2022

'North Shields Fish Quay c. 1905', a work in oils painted in sepia tones, was most recently featured in the annual exhibition of the Royal Society of Marine Artists hosted by Mall Galleries, London.

Andy Taylor Commission

" I commissioned Mark to paint Cullercoats Bay for my 60th Birthday celebration It’s where I’m from, where I grew up & my family, for generations, have
been Cullercoats Lifeboat men. He captured the “salty essence” of my childhood evoking many happy memories, it’s where my love of the guitar (& beer)
started. Mark, being a Lifeboatman himself & coincidentally a Taylor (no relation) captured the timeless spirit of the bay & the ancestry that made me who I am "
